For the ultimate snowboard and ski winter break there is only one destination. Anyone who truely wishes to challenge themselves or to indulge in powder heaven has to sample the best conditions on the planet.

Sunshine Breaks has access to a fantastic two bedroom condo right in the heart of the resort of Alyeska (pronounced Ally Yeska).

Why Alyeska ?

• The average snowfall here is 52 feet each year.
• Some years it has been known for over 90 feet of snow to fall in this area.
• It is easily accessed, being only 40km's south of the main city of Anchorage.

Alaska is a real life frontier state. It has some of the most incredible scenery and wildlife found anywhere on earth. It is a year round destination offering fantastic opportunities for wildlife, fishing and sporting enthusiasts.

Alyeska resort is located in the small town of Girdwood amongst the Chugach mountains. This former gold mining town has transformed itself into a year round holiday destination whilst very much retaining its small town feel. There are a host of activities going on here from golf to fishing, wildlife photography to dog sledding, kayaking to extreme winter sports. The locals are very friendly indeed and cannot do enough to make you feel welcome to their area.

The snow resort is built upon the spectacular Mount Alyeska and although off piste adventure abounds here this is also a fantastic place to learn and progress your snowboarding and skiing techniques. This is one place where you can be sure of one thing ... Snow ... and plenty of it!! Another phenomena of the area is the Aurora Borealis or northern lights which really are a spectacular sight.

If you simply want to head backcountry there are several options including making use of snowmobiles, snowcats and helicopters. We can recommend local companies to use should you want to get serious with your riding.

The accommodation is built right at the bottom of the mountain and it is possible to board or ski right to the door. This does require a good technique of riding over snow berms built to house temporary car parks!! If you don't want to or can't ride over these then you can simply pick up your equipment and walk the 30 seconds it takes to get to the house. Inside the condominium there are two bedrooms, both en suite, a fully fitted kitchen, living and dining area, open plan with large bay windows. The apartment is heated throughout and before I forget to mention, there is also a hot tub!!
