Travelling to the south of Spain has never been easier, particularly from the UK. Flights are plentiful and inexpensive.

The easiest way to travel around the area after getting to Spain is by car. There are currently a large selection of car hire companies to choose from at all the airports mentioned.

Casa Escocia ... is easily reached from Almeria (approx 1 hour 15min) or Granada (1 and a half hours). Malaga, although slightly further away, can also be used (2.5 to 3 hours).

Almeria - When leaving the airport follow the signs through a series of roundabouts that take you to the main E15 motorway. Head in the direction of Malaga/Motril. Around 20 mins later you will reach El Ejido. Turn off towards Berja. At Berja follow signs for Ugijar/Alcolea. Ten mins after Berja take right slip off towards Ugijar. Drive straight through Ugijar and carry on up the hill where you will come to Valor. Immediately on entering Valor a sign to the right directs you uphill to Nechite. Follow this up to the church square where we will meet you and guide you to the house or click here to see our Follow the Dog youtube clip showing the last part of the journey through the village!

Granada - Travel directly from the airport along the motorway in the direction of Gaudix/Almeria. Around 25 mins later you will reach Gaudix. Turn off towards Almeria. Five to ten minutes later you will see directions to Puerto de la Ragua. Follow this turning left at La Calahorra and winding up and up over the mountain pass (this can be snowed in during the winter) and down the other side to Laroles.  At Laroles you will be directed right towards Valor. Immediately on entering Valor a sign to the right directs you uphill to Nechite. Follow this up to the church square where we will meet you and guide you to the house or click here to see our Follow the Dog youtube clip showing the last part of the journey through the village!

Malaga - Travel directly from airport along motorway initially in the direction of Malaga then follow signs to Motril. Stay on this road for approx 2 hours until you pass Adra. Turn off towards Berja. At Berja follow signs for Ugijar. Drive straight through Ugijar and carry on up the hill where you will come to Valor. Immediately on entering Valor a sign to the right directs you uphill to Nechite. Follow this up to the church square where we will meet you and guide you to the house or click here to see our Follow the Dog youtube clip showing the last part of the journey through the village!

Salobrena ... is reached easily from either Granada (45 mins) or Malaga (approx 1hr). Once the new motorways are finished these times will be cut even further and Almeria will also be accessible in under an hour. From  ...

Malaga ... Follow the signs from the airport towards Malaga then Motril. Stay on the motorway following the signs towards Motril. Salobrena is directly off this and is well signposted.

Granada ... Follow the signs for Granada then Motril. Approximately 40 mins later you will reach the coast and at this roundabout turn right. The next junction exits into Salobrena.

Almeria ... Follow the signs towards Malaga. Look out for the turnoff for Motril but don't turn off. Five minutes later you will see the right slip for Salobrena, again this is well signposted.
